Made in the USA?
10/7/11: Revisiting "Made in the USA?" post after several years. Nothing much has changed. Wall Street keeps winning.

You see cheap products all over the place. Some are not bad in quality, a good majority,
though, are substandard. Precious few are made in the USA under ISO certification.
Standards are apparantly being neglected when these products come into the country.
The standards were designed to keep lead and choking parts away from our children,
poisons from our toothpaste.
The regressive manufacturing practices you are seeing lately are doing some of our
working middle-class out of a living. The companies that manage to keep workers
employed must compete with illegal hiring and outsourcing. It doesn't matter if it's not
your boss that is doing this. Odds are he will have to cut your health insurance, then be
put out of business anyway. Ultra cheap labor. What multimillion dollar corporation
wouldn't like that?
Where am I going with this? Politics. Super power politics. The guys at the top are
making so much, they can afford politicians. Please remember, though, the next time you
complain that too much is spent on elections, this is your money, filtered through the
cash register, that pays for those annoying blah blah commercials you hear. And the powers that be pony up to all candidates. What are we doing to ourselves?
Buy Made in the USA while you can still find it!

Here are some items made in the USA - Bridges and Highways...paid for by tax dollars.
See a dated article in USA Today titled "Foreign companies buying U.S. roads and bridges".
You do not hear much about this any more. I must confess if I knew of it, I was too
distracted to pay attention. You can hear of these things, then nothing! The news channels
are too busy repeating celebrity "news" and trial by media. Over and over for three days?
Oy. Makes you wonder what's really happening to us.
